The best way to help the VTP is to become a user or developer, and help to test or improve the software.
You can also donate money to help with the costs and overhead of running the project. The VTP is not-for-profit and does not have any revenue to support it.
Not counting the years of volunteer effort in developing the software and maintaining the site, the web hosting costs $60 a month, and each CDROM costs $6 to process and mail. These costs really add up!
